Glow Party

Last night I had just sat down to eat supper. It was almost 10pm. You came into the kitchen as I was putting the first bite into my mouth and you said "mama, I want to have a glow party with you." I requested to eat first since it was my first meal of the day and the food was hot. You insisted the glow party had to be done right then, it was just a must. You weren't fussy, you weren't demanding, but you were certainly convincing. Much like the day this photo was taken. That day you HAD to have that stick in our family pictures. Not demanding, but again very convincing. I really didn't want that stick in the picture (at the time) and I really wanted to eat my hot meal (at the time) but your gentle nudging to hold that stick and have a glow party would now be considered two of my favorite memories with you. I put down my fork, took the glow sticks you handed me and we danced in the kitchen to zero music. You taught me to "gritty" and "floss" and in about three minutes you were happy and moved on to your next adventure. Much like holding the stick in the picture, your request was simple and attainable. Much like the stick in the picture, the "glow party" we had left me lovin' you more.
